Possum Dreaming

I have a little possum living in a bird house in my backyard so I thought it apt to share their unique spiritual insights.

The cute little Australian Possums featured in the photo above heralds a time of opportunity and foundation building. These little guys are nocturnal and therefore only come out when its dark. They are notorious opportunists (taking your veggies etc) and will often change homes in order to find better food and comfort. Once comfy though they may never want to leave. On the one hand Possum tells us to take notice of opportunities that are arising at this time. Particularly as the world is shifting and energetic cycles are beginning to change, Possum is a good guide and indication that it is time to take any new and exciting pathways that are revealed or opened up for you. It's not a time to sit back and be complacent when something new is brought to your attention. Possum can also refer to someone that is draining or unnecessarily leaching off you in some way. It's a good indication to make your voice heard and establish stronger guidelines in the friend/relationship or even discard it all together. Now is not the time to hold onto relationships or friendships for the sake of others, it is really important to do what is right for you because that may just assist that person onto their path. Sometimes being the 'bad' person at first - no matter whether they ever realise it - will inevitably help them in the long run.

Whilst it is important to listen to all the signs around us - all the naturally occurring elements and take notice that energies and shifts are occurring, it is equally important to realise that Spirit, Mother Earth, God, Buddha or any higher figure are working on these shifts regardless of whether we acknowledge them. I dislike people instilling fear so don't fear changes or difference, they can not spiritually harm you if you know who you are and trust in inherent good (this is hard when so many horrible things happen). It's really important that as Human Beings that reside on the physical Earth, that we ALWAYS keep grounded (through physical activity - dancing, yogo, pilates, gym work), centred (mediation, relaxation) and within our own individual heart space (love yourself and others - accepting that we can change our own perceptions and thought processes but not that of others). The (initially) hardest and then easiest way to live a more balanced and happy life is to simply understand that things are the way they are for a reason and being angry, hurt or upset feels good in the beginning but only hurts yourself in the end. The closest we can come to changing negative thought processes in others, is to simply listen and lead/share through our own actions. Be gentle on yourself and others when it hurts most, we usually lash out in fear, pain and ironically love. Try these little tips and see how much more you can act and speak from the heart.

"Smile inwardly and you will shine outwardly."

Many blessings everyone for the festive season,

Wallaby Dreaming

This unique Australian mammal carries not only its beautiful baby joey in its pouch at the front but a deep sense of moving forward. Recently I have been looking for guidance in relation to speaking my truth and being able to be heard. I curiously thought that the best animal for this task would be the Wombat - stubborn and aggressive without being rude. I was surprised to find that Wallaby was the best to combat the task I had set. And yet I am not surprised. Wallabies hop into our lives to show us progression, adaptability and sure-footedness. Many of our wallabies live in very difficult, hilly and rocky terrain. Like the well-known Kangaroo's, they cannot walk or hop backwards - its physically impossible. So they always look ahead and move forward. Dwelling on the past is the most likely cause for Wallaby to hop across your dreaming. A stagnant belief that you are simply not good enough, your knowledge is not as complete or substantial as someone else's, your opinions don't count, your decisions are silly and people don't care about what you say or who you are. These are all common issues that Wallaby seems to bring to the surface. If you want to delve into this dark inner space to see where the issues are stemming from and what you can learn about yourself, you can trying holding wallaby in your minds eye (third chakra eye) before you meditate, listen to shamanic rattling/drumming or at night before you drift into sleep. It's a wonderful animal to dream with - filled with comforting thoughts and the end knowledge that you are just as valid in your beliefs and knowledge as the next person! Remember to love yourself, the planet and others without condition - just watch the abundance that flows your way!

Speak up and have your voice heard!

Dragonfly Dreaming

Hey everyone, sorry I've been so quiet lately, it's been hectic!!!

The most recent animal dreaming that has been brought into my awareness is that of the Dragonfly. Several keep flitting right in front of my face, one giant one flew in front of me recently and smacked right into a clear cover before recovering and flying off - a definite give away.

The magnificent Dragonfly is a truly miraculous little creature. They represent the true emergence of yourself. If dragonflies dart across your path, you are undoubtedly in a time of change. Be it a career, relationship or physical change the dragonfly is there to assist with the metamorphosis. Most of their lives are spent as nymphs or baby dragonflies before they eventually spread their wings and fly. We all will spend most of our lives searching for the answers, the comfortable balance and our place within the world. Dragonfly is always are good omen that things are changing, not to be afraid and truly embrace the new image you discover. Sometimes as adults we place all sorts of conditions of the 'normal' and what is 'expected' of ourselves. The Dragonfly asks us to question these - what are we hiding behind, what are we truly afraid of? The hardest idea that we come across is knowing that in everything we seek, it always came from within. The journey and answers are not outside of ourselves, they are within. It's a matter of dropping the idea of 'normalcy' and simply listening to what your body is telling you. You'd be amazed and how much you will learn!

Blessings!

Crystal of the Universe

This magnificent crystal that I want to share with you all goes by a few different names. My preference is 'dendritic opal'. It is also known as 'merlinite' and is often confused with 'mystic merlinite' (they are two different stones). The clear/white elements are quartz and the black tends to be psilomelane (a manganese oxide) or the dendritic inclusions (look like moss/tree branches).

I have quite a few personal experiences with this stone. I own this gorgeous pendant that I wear sparingly, I also now own a beautiful raw piece that I'm pretty sure the owner was unaware of what the stone actually was. Never have I felt the presence of such a strong crystal. It aids Shamanic practices and development, balance duality (bringing dark into light and visa versa without there being negative/positive), helps transformation of concepts outside the grasp of a rational mind, aids fear of change and is a VERY active stone. I have heard people warn against using this stone if you are not a practitioner or spiritually guided in some way. Whilst I have always disliked excluding people due to knowledge or practice, this stone does need a warning disclaimer on it. I mistakenly thought it a great idea to wear my stone to my FIRST ever Shamanic class - huge mistake! I literally went on some speed-of-light journey that to this day has me confused (I'm not sure where I actually went). It was intense and the images, sensations and information were too fast and too much. I felt so ill afterwards, I was physically sick.

We have since worked very well together, especially with my Shamanic practice. But it takes control, understanding and dare I say, a fare bit of background knowledge. I will NEVER use this stone in Reiki or group meditations - unless fully comfortable with everyones awareness level. It is usually not a relaxing or healing stone, definitely more a spiritual growth stone. By no means exclude this stone from your collection, but use it wisely.

Keep this all in mind when choosing a piece of this truly magical stone and feel free to share any encounters with this Crystal of the Universe!

Blessings xo

Magpie Spirit

Recently the beautiful Australian Magpie has been wandering across my path. The photo below is a parent and chick (right). For those who are not familiar, these birds are notoriously protective during the Spring (now) and often swoop on anyone who is remotely near the tree they are nesting in. The incredibly unusual encounter I had was with a parent and chick like below. I volunteer garden at various different places. This one garden had a massive open backyard with some weeds off to one back corner. I was working here when I looked up and noticed a very quiet Magpie a metre from my face on the back fence, watching me. It scared me at first. I have heard the stories and been swooped myself but this bird seemed to be watching me with intense curiosity. So I continued and didn't worry about him, until he flew down and started picking the bugs up from my feet where I was disturbing the weeds. I was actually pretty unnerved by him being so close that I actually froze. He was gathering the bugs in his beak, presumably for his young. Next I heard was the squawking of the baby from what appeared to be just over the fence. I peered over the fence and this Magpie was feeding its tiny little baby in a nest on the ground less than a metre from me! It quickly jumped onto the fence and I backed away, yet it still didn't swoop at me. I was amazed. Completely stunned that this parent was so accepting and calm about my presence so close to its baby. The whole experience was truly remarkable and I feel quite honoured that I was allowed into their lives for an afternoon.

A brief Magpie Spirit meaning ~ Magpies are representative of sacred balance. If they appear in your life, they often herald a time of awareness, sense of purpose and confronting fears. They also represent the beginning of understanding the infinite balance between yourself, nature and the dualities of life; male/female, right/wrong, black/white etcetera. It quite often (like it did for me) turns your perceptions completely upside-down, causing you to reconsider the way we look at life, situations and people.

Thank you Magpie!

Dingo Dreaming

I have a lovely Dingo Dreaming story to share. When doing a recent nature spirit dreaming, I was visited by my guide for the Dream; Dingo. As soon as I closed my eyes, this gorgeous Dingo was there to take me to where I needed to go. We started inland Australia, in the desert. This Dingo took me specifically to a Boab tree (I'll mention that in a later post). Here I looked at this amazingly bottle-shaped tree and asked what exactly I was supposed to be learning from this tree. The Dingo showed me that the tree was sacred to native peoples and that I should walk around the tree, touching the bark and noticing all its features. He sat at the edge of what felt like an invisible circle around the tree, in the sand and just watched me. It was a very tactile dreaming. I remember the feel of the sand under my feet, the stones, the sharp grass along my legs as we walked and the strange bumpy but somewhat smooth texture of the Boab's bark. I felt the searing sun and the gentle coolness under the tree as I sat in the red sand and meditated during this Dreaming. Compared to other animal totems, the Dingo seemed to have a quirky humour and cheeky personality. He had a sense of purpose but never at the expense of a little play along the way. There was a distinct carefreeness and deep pride but not without a very laid back attitude. I got the sense that dozing during the hot sun under a Boab tree was a regular occurrence. He was not fussed by people and watched with a detached interest. They are known as tricksters but they are also cunning creatures with a mastery at finding food, water and shelter. Beautiful creatures to guide for any Dreaming or Spiritual journeys!
